Mimpi Dive Center
We are proudly affiliated with PADI (#S-17793), the world’s largest recreational diving membership and diver training organization. Like any dive operation of Mimpi, it is site-based with expertise to cover all sites in Tulamben area and other nearby Bali’s northeast sites. We pride ourselves in prioritizing safety through a combination of well-maintained equipments and a dedicated team.
Our dive staff has immense local knowledge of the surrounding dive sites and years of experience in handling groups of divers as well as single divers. They have been trained under PADI’s curriculum and are highly experienced insetting up, assembling and washing diveequipments. To ensure your safety and diving enjoyment, each of our dive guide handles less than 5 divers at one time. We also have an on-site PADI instructor who are certified to teach various PADI courses. Moreover, to enhance your diving experience, our dive staff is fluent in three languages; English, Indonesian and Japanese.
Mimpi Dive Centre is conveniently located in front of Tulamben Bay, which is a walk-away from the famous USAT Liberty Wreck as well as other dive sites such as House Reef/Coral Garden and Tulamben Wall/Drop Off. Staying at our resort gives you the advantage of early morning dives before all other day-trip divers crowd the bay.
Our dive centre is open from 7 am to 9 pm. We recommend you to visit our dive centre as soon as you arrive in order to make arrangements for your dive trips. The most common dive is shore dive entering from the pebbled beach of Tulamben Bay, which is located right in front of our resort. We also offer packages to visit other nearby dive sites such as BatuKelebit, Alamanda, Emerald, Seraya Secret and Kubu. A traditional outrigger boat called Jukung is used to transport divers to entry points in these dive sites. If you’d like to visit further dive sites such as Amed, Nusa Penida and Menjangan Island, we have full-day packages, which includes car transport, boat transport as well as lunch. LOCAL MARINE LIFE
Due to its location as one of the richest marine bio-geographic zones in the world, Tulamben Bay boasts a vibrant marine life. There are three main dive sites, which are physically distinct from one another and thus house a diverse marine life.
The most famous dive site is the USAT Liberty Wreck, which is one of the most popular and most accessible wreck dives in the world. The wreck is easily accessible by divers of all experience levels as it lies a mere 30 m offshore. Even snorkelers are able to get a glimpse of the wreck as its shallowest part is only 3 metres deep. The walls of the wreck are heavily encrusted in hard and soft corals, gorgonian fans and anemones. Upon entry, you will be greeted by surgeonfish as well as colorful nudibranchs. Barracudas and groups of bumphead parrotfish are also often sighted.
Tulamben Wall, also known as the Drop Off bottoms out at 60-70 metres and hosts larger marine life. If you’re lucky you may spot Reef Sharks, Moray Eels and even Hammerheads. Meanwhile, along the coral encrusted wall, you will see various octopus, crabs and shrimps.
House Reef or Coral Garden runs for approximately 150 m along the beach, in front of the resort. Its shallow depth of 3 to 12 m is popular for snorkeling as well as extended night dives. Various nocturnal feeders and hunters have often been sighted here. The reef is a paradise for tropical fishes such as anemones (Nemo), ribbon eels and scorpion fish.
